First Light

On a cold morning in the Chilcotin Mountains of British Columbia, Canada, the first light of day brushes across a ridge of trees dusted with new snow. Their dark forms stand in contrast against the pale glow, marking the quiet passage between seasons. It’s the brief interval when fall exhales its last breath and winter takes hold, much like the fragile moment between conscious thought and sleep, when time feels suspended and entirely still.
