Hi, I’m Carsten Arnold, a professional photographer based in Chilliwack, British Columbia. My deepest passion is landscape photography, shaped by decades of exploring and documenting the wild, rugged beauty of Canada’s backcountry. From alpine passes in British Columbia to the tundra of the Northwest Territories, I’ve spent years capturing scenes that reflect the raw, timeless character of the land.
Today, a growing part of my business is dedicated to sharing this work through surreal fine art prints, now found in homes, offices, and hospitality spaces around the world.

 

While landscape photography has now become the core of my business, I also continue to work with clients throughout the Fraser Valley, Metro Vancouver, and beyond, providing premier architectural and interior photography services. With over 15 years of experience and more than 6,000 photographed locations, I bring a clean, polished style that helps high end homes and commercial spaces tell their stories with clarity and impact. These client services, along with my professional scanning and photo restoration work through my business Carmel Studios, are now located under the “Services” section of this site.

 

My photography journey began in the 1970s, building darkrooms and learning to process black and white, color prints, and transparencies. That hands on beginning led to a career in printing, publishing, and IT, including teaching prepress at Vancouver Community College and serving as Director of IT for one of Canada’s largest publishers. That foundation continues to inform the precision and care I bring to every image I create.

 

Outside of client work, my surreal fine art style blends realism with painterly effects, work that reflects my response to the types of art I see on walls everywhere: expressive, timeless, and unexpected.
